My mom and I always talked about going to Guatemala together when I was old enough, and then the time came! I was a freshman in college when I first started going to Guatemala, and now it’s like a tradition, every fall break I plan on going back! Guatemala has changed me. I never knew that I would change so much in just a few short trips, but I certainly did. The work we do in Guatemala is very tough, but it’s one of the most rewarding things. Our goal each time we go is to change the lives of those in the community, but in return they always change mine. I will never forget all the lives we have helped, and I’m so honored to be a part of such a life changing mission. I never knew how good I had it, until I went to other parts of the world (like Guatemala) to see that even the littlest things can change someone forever. We give each family we work with a water filtration system, and not once had I ever thought about drinking dirty water. Isaiah 6:8 “Here I am, Send me,” is a verse I live by every day. I love helping others and mission work is something I will always do. I can’t wait to return to Guatemala next October for another hard and fun mission trip!
