In October, I got the opportunity to go to Guatemala.  At first, I was a little anxious to go but as soon as we stepped into the airport, I was super excited to be there. I didn’t know what was in store for us but when we landed, I knew I was ready for it. When I stepped outside of the airport, it was a whole new world. It was upsetting to see what their lifestyle was like. I wanted to help them as soon as I saw someone in need. As I looked at their homes and their clothes, I realized how much I have. We take so many things for granted and we need to appreciate what we have. A couple days after, we started our work. Every house we went to the people in the homes welcomed us with open arms; It was all about teamwork. We worked together to build stoves and installed water filters in their homes. After each day, families came from all over the town to get bundles for their family. The bundles included toothbrushes and toothpaste, clothes and shoes (for all ages), vitamins and hygiene items. When you saw their faces of joy and hope, your face just lit up and you wanted to help even more than you did before. The journey was unexplainable and was a life-changing opportunity. I highly recommend anyone who has the chance to go, to go. It will change your life forever. It makes you have a different outlook on life. It made me realize that these people do have hope and that God is always there for them and always loves them. This has been an overall amazing experience and I would most definitely go back again. No matter how big or small, weak or strong, old or young, you can do it and help make an impact in helping to change the world! God bless!
